As recommended by my guidebook I decided to take a "rest" day in the town of Moffat.

What I had not realised was that there was walking festival this weekend. I joined the two hour heritage tour, on which I learnt that Moffat grew up as a Spa town, where people came for various water related treatments using the local well water. Still a busy tourist town, with many buildings from the 18th and 19th in red sandstone and/or a grey whinstone. The most unexpected sight was an original Spitfire from 1943 in a suburban garden.
