Walking down the Stour Valley Path is to travel through an archetypal slice of England with pubs, churches, village fetes, green fields, thatched houses, bluebells, scattered trees and winding rivers. Artists such as Gainsborough and Constable sympathetically painted the landscapes of the Stour Valley and evidently loved its meadows. Historic villages like Clare with its castle ruin and Long Melford with its stately homes add depth to your exploration.
There is accommodation along the route but in places can be somewhat scare so planning is needed. I also found a few campsites. The trail is waymarked reasonably well, but you will need a map or the track loaded on your GPS to be sure of finding your way.
